Pune Highway

Saw this play called ‘Pune Highway’ yesterday at Prithvi Theatre in Juhu. It was an amazing experience.

All the action takes place in a  murky roadside hotel on the Mumbai-Pune expressway. Three rich friends from Mumbai, who have just been through a traumatic experience on the highway, are huddled up in the hotel room. The play revolves around the moral dilemma facing these people. The circumstances question their trust in each other.

The plot is simple but the screenplay and acting are excellent.

The experience of watching a play is totally different from seeing a movie. The effect of seeing the charcters in flesh and blood and at such close quarters has to be experienced to be believed.  You become so engrossed in the plot and you feel the emotions of the characters.

Those who have not been to a play yet, please do. Mumbai has two great theatres in NCPA and Prithvi. The ticket rates are not very high(<Rs.200 in most cases) and are available at bookmyshow.com.
